Join the OpenPetra.org effort
You want to use your time to help charities and other non-profit organisations? Helping with the OpenPetra project allows you to impact the work of many organisations worldwide. You can help on your own terms in your own time.
You can help in the areas that interest you most. You can help in the OpenPetra Forum, you can report bugs, contribute to the OpenPetra Manuals in the wiki, translate OpenPetra into your own language, help with requirements specification, provide a nicer design for the webpage or the program icons, or actually work as a programmer with the C# code.
There is a lot of work to do.
There is already a list of some small and easy jobs, but also some more challenging projects.
A list can be found in the wiki: Projects for developers
A lot of code is already dormant in the repository, with a lot of TODO comments. Also, some .Net code from the Petra project has not yet been imported into the OpenPetra.org git repository. So don’t assume yet that if a functionality is not there yet, you have to program it from scratch.
Before you start working on a task, it is probably best to let the other developers know in the “Discussion of things todo” forum.
Please see the Developer area in the OpenPetra forum for places to discuss new features and development tasks.
OM also has a number of open full-time and part-time positions for OpenPetra. Those are unsalaried jobs, and you are expected to raise your own financial support. You can find the details here:
